Threads launches global advertising as it hits 400M users

Meta has confirmed that ads are rolling out to Threads users worldwide starting next week. The move marks the start of full monetization for the platform, which has grown to 400 million monthly active users.

Advertisers will be able to place ads via existing Instagram and Meta ad interfaces. The rollout will be gradual: users will see a limited number of ads initially, with frequency scaling up over the next few months.

This expansion follows limited testing in select markets and comes as Threads reportedly overtakes X in daily mobile activity.
