New reports from Bloomberg and The Information outline Apple’s significant shift in AI strategy, highlighting a deep collaboration with Google and the development of new hardware.
The New Siri
Apple is reportedly working on a project codenamed “Campos” to overhaul Siri into a comprehensive chatbot capable of text and voice interaction, similar to Gemini or ChatGPT.
- Timeline. Initial AI features based on Gemini are expected in iOS 26.4, with the full chatbot transformation arriving in iOS 27 (WWDC 2026).
- Infrastructure. The new model is built on Google Gemini. Notably, reports indicate this will run on Google’s servers rather than Apple’s private cloud.
New AI wearable hardware
Beyond software, Apple is designing a dedicated AI device similar to the AI Pin concept.
- Form Factor. Described as an accessory the size of an AirTag, made of aluminum and glass.
- Specs. Features a single button, speaker, three microphones, and two cameras (standard and ultra-wide) to allow the AI to analyze the user’s surroundings.
- Release. Currently in early development with a potential launch in 2027.
This news arrives alongside expectations for a second-generation AirTag update.
