Blue Origin has officially unveiled plans for TeraWave, a satellite internet network positioned as a competitor to SpaceX’s Starlink, but with a distinct focus on performance and market segmentation.
TeraWave is designed to reach speeds of up to 6 Tbps using a multi-orbit architecture:
- LEO Constellation: 5,280 satellites in Low Earth Orbit providing speeds up to 144 Gbps.
- MEO Constellation: 128 satellites in Medium Earth Orbit handling high-speed data transfer.
The primary distinction from Starlink is the target audience. TeraWave will not be available to regular consumers; the network is built strictly for corporate and enterprise clients.
The company plans to conduct the first launch of its internet satellites by the end of 2027.
