Gmail promotional filters are failing to sort emails

A widespread issue is causing Gmail’s automatic sorting system to fail. Emails that usually go to the “Promotions” or “Updates” tabs are now flooding the Primary inbox, triggering notifications for every newsletter and marketing blast. The problem started early Saturday morning, but Google has not released a fix or statement yet.
