Google is planning a significant visual change for Android 17, moving away from current solid background elements toward a heavy blur aesthetic.
According to a report by 9to5Google, internal builds reveal that the new look will apply to volume sliders, mode switchers, the power menu, and other core system interfaces. Notably, the report mentions that adjusting the volume will now trigger a blur effect over the currently active application.
Leaks have provided early visualizations of this design direction. This move expands on the visual changes already observed in Android 16 QPR1, which recently introduced blur to the notification panel and quick settings.
