First look at Aluminum OS as Google’s unified Android for PC

New details regarding Google’s “Aluminum OS” have emerged following an accidental leak. This is the working title for the rumored hybrid of Android and Chrome OS.

The interface was revealed by mistake when a user submitted a bug report to the Chrome Issue Tracker regarding Incognito tabs. The attached screencast displayed the unreleased operating system in action. While the report has since been deleted, it was spotted by 9to5Google.

The footage was recorded on an HP Elite Dragonfly 13.5 Chromebook. The logs identified the system as “ALOS” (Aluminum OS) with the specific build number ZL1A.260119.001.A1.

Insiders first reported on Google’s work to merge Android and Chrome OS capabilities in late 2025. Google is expected to officially present the project in May of this year.
