Samsung has begun teasing a new hardware-integrated privacy feature expected to launch with the Galaxy S26 Ultra this February. Known as “Privacy Display,” this technology offers a significant upgrade over traditional privacy screen protectors.
Selective visibility
According to Samsung, the feature is highly customizable. Rather than darkening the entire screen, users can choose to protect specific interface elements. For instance, you can configure the display to mask only pop-up notifications or banking credentials from side angles, while keeping the rest of the content visible.
Real-world application
Industry insider Ice Universe demonstrated the feature in a realistic scenario: when a message arrives, the user sees the content clearly head-on. However, to anyone looking over the user’s shoulder or from the side, the notification area appears completely black, effectively blocking unauthorized reading of private texts.

The feature was first spotted in OneUI 8.5 builds, though it remains unclear if this technology will be exclusive to the Ultra model or available across the broader Galaxy lineup.
